Oak Hill Memorial Park traces its origins to 1839, during the Mexican period, and was formally established in 1847. It is known as the oldest secular cemetery in California.
More than 40,000 people are buried here, including former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta, vintner Paul Masson and many of San Jose’s pioneer families.
The grounds include the Romanesque and Spanish Revival Great Mausoleum, the Chapel of the Oaks and the Fountain of the Apostles. The park has been part of Dignity Memorial since 1986.
