San Bruno Avenue is the city’s older main street, with family restaurants and small businesses. The Shops at Tanforan sit on El Camino Real next to the San Bruno BART station. For a business delivery, enter the business name with the street address and the hours someone will be there.
YouTube has had its headquarters in San Bruno since 2007 and is the city’s largest employer. For an office delivery, include the company, building, the recipient’s full name and a phone number, because large offices usually receive flowers at a lobby desk.
Skyline College is on the ridge at the west edge of the city. For a staff member or a graduate, include the full name, the building or office and the event time if the flowers are for a ceremony.
Capuchino High School and the city’s elementary and middle schools receive flowers through their main offices. Include the staff member’s full name and order early on event days.
The nearest hospitals are Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco Medical Center at 1200 El Camino Real and Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame. Include the patient’s full name and room number if you know it.
Hillside neighborhoods such as Crestmoor and Rollingwood have curving streets and homes set above the road. Include the recipient’s phone and any gate or stair details. For flowers at Golden Gate National Cemetery, see our Golden Gate National Cemetery page for its floral rules.
San Bruno takes its name from Saint Bruno, a name given to the area in the Spanish colonial era. Real growth began after the 1906 earthquake, when families moved south from San Francisco, and the city incorporated on December 23, 1914.
For more than sixty years the Tanforan Racetrack drew crowds to San Bruno. In 1942 it was turned into an assembly center where more than 8,000 Japanese Americans, mostly from the Bay Area, were held before being sent to inland camps.
The Tanforan Memorial, dedicated in 2022 on the plaza between the Shops at Tanforan and the BART station, honors those families with a bronze sculpture based on a 1942 photograph by Dorothea Lange.
