BloomFresh has delivered fresh flowers throughout the Bay Area since 1982, and Rodeo — along the Carquinez Strait just past San Pablo — has been part of our daily route for as long as we've been in business. From the historic downtown near the old Rodeo Exchange to the homes overlooking the marina, our designers build every arrangement by hand and our drivers know these streets well. Whether it's a birthday by the water or flowers for a service that starts before most shops even open, Rodeo is one of the first stops on our morning route.

Rodeo Delivery, Specifically

Because Rodeo sits just up the shoreline from our San Pablo base, it's often one of the first stops on our early route — morning deliveries for funerals, memorials, and school events in Rodeo typically arrive well ahead of the day's first service. Same-day afternoon orders placed before 1:00 PM have plenty of time to reach any Rodeo address before evening.

Rodeo's History

Rodeo takes its name from the Spanish word for a cattle roundup — the area appears on maps as "Rodeo Valley" as early as 1860, from the ranching that once took place on the surrounding hills, with cattle driven down through the old town to a loading dock on the San Pablo Bay shoreline. The town itself was formally platted in 1890 by the Union Stockyard Company, backed by an Irish immigrant rancher named Patrick Tormey, who envisioned Rodeo becoming the meatpacking center of the entire West Coast. That particular vision never quite panned out — but the waterfront kept attracting industry, and in 1896 the Union Oil Company (now Phillips 66) built a refinery nearby that's remained part of Rodeo's identity for well over a century.

Rodeo has weathered plenty of change since — from a fishing-and-boating boom in the postwar years to today's quieter mix of waterfront homes and small-town streets — but the community still gathers for its own traditions, including the long-running Holy Ghost and Aquatic Festivals that trace back to Rodeo's earliest days.
