Barron Park has a country feel, with narrow lanes, few sidewalks, large trees and homes set back from the road. House numbers can be hard to see. Include the recipient’s phone and describe the gate or driveway if the house is hard to find.
Many lots have a second home or back unit. Tell us whether the flowers go to the front house or a back unit, and which door to use.
Gunn High School and Juana Briones Elementary are nearby, and Barron Park Elementary is inside the neighborhood. Flowers go to the main office. Include the staff member’s full name and the event time for performances and graduations.
Businesses and offices line El Camino Real along the neighborhood’s eastern edge. For a business delivery, enter the business name with the street address and the hours someone will be there.
The nearest hospitals are Stanford Hospital at 500 Pasteur Drive, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at 725 Welch Road and the VA Palo Alto Medical Center at 3801 Miranda Avenue. Include the patient’s full name and room number if you know it. Our hospital and care facility guide lists the details most hospitals ask for.
For sympathy flowers to a home, give the family name, a phone number and any timing preferences. For a service, include the venue, the deceased’s full name, the service time and an onsite contact. Our funeral and sympathy flower guide explains timing for formal pieces.
Barron Park stayed an unincorporated part of Santa Clara County for decades. Residents voted to join Palo Alto in 1975, and the city agreed to keep the neighborhood’s semi-rural character.
Bol Park grew out of land owned by Cornelis Bol, a Stanford professor, whose family kept donkeys in a pasture there. The park opened in April 1974, and neighborhood volunteers still care for the donkeys, which meet visitors on weekend walks.
Matadero Creek and Barron Creek wind through the neighborhood, and the Bol Park bike path follows an old railroad line toward Stanford Research Park.
