A neighborhood named for Wales

Cambrian takes its name from the Cambrian School District, named in the 1870s by ranch hand David Lewis for Cambria, the Latin name for his native Wales.

Cambrian Park Plaza opened in 1953 at Camden and Union avenues. Its colorful carousel sign is a neighborhood landmark.

In 2012 Campbell annexed a large section of unincorporated Cambrian, and most of the rest of the neighborhood is now part of San Jose.
