Flowers for Chinatown
Grant Avenue is lined with shops, restaurants and family businesses. For a business delivery, enter the business name with the street address and the hours someone will be there. For a banquet or celebration at a restaurant, add the host’s name and the event time so staff can recognize the order.
Stockton Street is the neighborhood’s busy market street, with heavy foot traffic and few places to stop. A recipient phone number lets the driver call ahead so someone can meet them at the door.
Many residents live in apartments above storefronts, reached by a shared street door and a stair. Include the unit number, the buzzer name and the recipient’s phone. If the recipient is more comfortable in Cantonese or Mandarin, add the phone number of a family member who can help with the handoff.
The Chinatown/Him Mark Lai Branch of the San Francisco Public Library is at 1135 Powell Street. For a staff celebration or a thank-you, include the recipient’s full name and the hours they work.
For hospital deliveries, include the patient’s full name and room if you know it. Chinese Hospital is at 845 Jackson Street. Our hospital and care facility guide lists the details most facilities ask for.
Portsmouth Square, at 733 Kearny Street, is one of the few open spaces in Chinatown. A park has no reception desk, so flowers for a gathering should go to a home, a business or a person who can meet the driver.
For sympathy flowers to a home, give the family name, a phone number and any timing preferences. For a service at a church, hall or funeral home, include the venue, the deceased’s full name, the service time and an onsite contact. Our funeral and sympathy flower guide explains timing for formal pieces.

The oldest Chinatown in North America
San Francisco’s Chinatown began in the early 1850s and is the oldest Chinatown in North America. It remains one of the largest Chinese communities outside Asia.
The 1906 earthquake and fire destroyed the neighborhood. Rebuilding began quickly: on October 1, 1906, the city granted 43 building permits to Chinese businesses, and much of Chinatown was rebuilt by about 1908.

Plan a thoughtful neighborhood delivery
Choose the flowers, then add the exact address, unit, cross street and phone number that make a handoff at a shared street door or a busy shop easy. For businesses, schools and care settings, include the recipient’s name and the hours someone can receive them, so the arrangement is not left at a closed door.
