Mountain View Cemetery is at 5000 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611. The grounds are open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the mausoleum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
For a service, tell us the deceased’s full name, the date and start time, and where the service will be held. The cemetery has the Tower Chapel and the Main Mausoleum Chapel, and Piedmont Funeral Services operates on the grounds. Give us the funeral home’s name and phone so the driver can confirm where the flowers should be placed.
Order standing sprays, casket sprays and other formal pieces as early as you can, ideally the day before. For a morning service, an order placed by 1:00 PM the day before gives us the most time to design and deliver before the family arrives.
For flowers at a grave, niche or crypt, check with the cemetery office before you order. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and on weekends and holidays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We can deliver the arrangement to you or a family member to bring on your visit.
For sympathy flowers to the family’s home, give the family name, a phone number and any timing preferences. A plant or a garden-style arrangement is often a good choice for the home. Our funeral and sympathy flower guide explains timing for formal pieces.
Mountain View Cemetery was established in 1863. Its 226 acres were laid out by Frederick Law Olmsted, the landscape architect of New York’s Central Park, who aimed to express harmony between people and the natural setting.
The ridge known as Millionaires’ Row holds grand crypts and offers views across the bay to San Francisco.
Many well-known Californians rest here, including the architects Julia Morgan and Bernard Maybeck, the chocolatier Domingo Ghirardelli and the industrialist Henry J. Kaiser. Docent-led tours have been offered since 1970.
