Flowers for Mission Bay

UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay, at 1975 Fourth Street, includes hospitals for children, women and cancer care. For a patient, include their full name and room if you know it, and check that flowers are allowed on their unit. Our hospital and care facility guide lists the details most facilities ask for.

Many Mission Bay offices and labs have a front desk or a badge-controlled lobby. Give the company name, the floor or suite and the recipient’s phone so the flowers reach the right person.

Most residents live in apartment buildings with a lobby, concierge or package room. Include the building name, the unit and the recipient’s phone, and tell us if the front desk can sign for flowers.

The Mission Bay Branch of the San Francisco Public Library is at 960 Fourth Street. For a staff celebration or a thank-you, include the recipient’s full name and the hours they work.

Chase Center hosts games and concerts, and traffic is heavy on event days. Flowers cannot be delivered into an arena, so send them to the recipient’s home, hotel or office before the event.

The houseboats on Mission Creek are reached through gated walkways. Include the gate details and the recipient’s phone so they can meet the driver.

For sympathy flowers to a home, give the family name, a phone number and any timing preferences. For a service at a church, hall or funeral home, include the venue, the deceased’s full name, the service time and an onsite contact. Our funeral and sympathy flower guide explains timing for formal pieces.

From rail yards to a new neighborhood

Mission Bay was once a rail yard operated by the Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1998, the city made it a redevelopment area, and the former industrial land became a neighborhood of homes, research buildings and parks.

The Mission Bay Branch Library opened on July 8, 2006, as the first new branch of the San Francisco Public Library in more than 40 years. UCSF’s Mission Bay hospitals opened in February 2015, and Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, opened in 2019.

Along Mission Creek, a small community of houseboats has kept a quieter side of the neighborhood’s waterfront.
