Flowers for Bayview-Hunters Point

Third Street is the neighborhood’s main street, with shops, restaurants, churches and services along the T Third light rail line. For a business delivery, enter the business name with the street address and the hours someone will be there. Trains run down the middle of the street, so a clear address and a phone number help the driver make a quick, safe stop.

The Bayview/Linda Brooks-Burton Branch of the San Francisco Public Library is at 5075 Third Street, and the Bayview Opera House is at 4705 Third Street. For a staff celebration or an event, include the recipient’s full name and the room or desk where the flowers should go.

The Southeast Community Center is at 1550 Evans Avenue. For flowers to someone working or attending an event there, include their full name, the event and the hours they will be on site.

Schools receive flowers through the main office. Thurgood Marshall Academic High School is at 45 Conkling Street. Include the staff member’s full name and order early on days with performances or graduations.

Many homes on the hills sit above a garage or behind a gate, and larger apartment complexes have their own entrances and call boxes. Give the building name, unit, gate code and the recipient’s phone so the flowers reach a person rather than a locked lobby.

For hospital deliveries, include the patient’s full name and room if you know it. Zuckerberg San Francisco General is a short drive away at 1001 Potrero Avenue. Our hospital and care facility guide lists the details most facilities ask for.

For sympathy flowers to a home, give the family name, a phone number and any timing preferences. For a service at one of the neighborhood’s churches or another venue, include the venue, the deceased’s full name, the service time and an onsite contact. Our funeral and sympathy flower guide explains timing for formal pieces.

A historic theater, a shipyard and a light rail line

The Bayview Opera House on Third Street was built in 1888 as the South San Francisco Opera House and is known as the city’s oldest theater. Despite its name, it was used for dramas and variety shows, and today it is a community arts center.

Hunters Point grew around its shipyard. The Navy bought the shipyard in 1940, and it became a major employer during World War II, drawing workers and families who shaped the neighborhood. The base closed in 1994.

The T Third Street light rail line opened in 2007, connecting Bayview-Hunters Point to the rest of the city along Third Street. Along the shoreline, Heron’s Head Park offers a path and wetlands on the bay.
